Drop Thy still dews of quietness,
Till all our strivings cease;
Take from our souls the strain and stress,
And let our ordered lives confess
The beauty of Thy peace.
(Words taken from the hymn: ‘Dear Lord and Father of Mankind’)
Hi, my name is Annelies van de Steeg. I am Student Pastor for IPSU/Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Utrecht. As part of the
team of IPSU I’m especially ‘there’ for international students. Being there for you means that I’m available to listen to
your stories, questions or problems. So please don’t hesitate to contact me!
What inspires me to do this job, are the stories that people tell me. About who they are, what moves them, which believes
and convictions inspire them and how faith shapes their lives. For me personally faith means trusting God (at least trying
to!) and turning to Him to find peace when life is busy, stressful or difficult.
On behalf of Holy Trinity Anglican Church Utrecht I am also responsible for offering activities for international students,
where you can meet other students, exchange experiences or deepen your faith.
Last but not least, let me tell you something about myself. I grew up (a real ‘Dutchie’) in a small village in the centre
of the Netherlands, near Gouda (a city you absolutely should visit if you have the chance!). I’ve been raised a Christian,
but really decided to be one when I was about twelve. Since then, my journey with faith has had its ups and downs, but I
couldn’t do without it. I studied Theology at Utrecht University and worked as a church worker and pastoral counsellor.
When I’m not working, I love to be outdoors (biking of course, but also running and hiking), read a good book (anything
from a novel to some theological work), enjoy a good movie or make music (singing).
